Sleepy Paradise - Havana
Some journeys fade with time. And then there are the ones that stay with you forever. Cuba was one of those places for me. A beautiful, vibrant, deeply alive country — but also a place carrying a quieter, more invisible weight beneath the surface. While photographing its streets, walls, and light, I kept asking myself: if I lived here, what would my mind create in order to accept this reality every day? How would I mentally transform the world around me to keep dreaming despite the limitations? This series was born from that question. In post-production, I repainted the walls and softened the colors into pastel tones, almost unreal at times. As if the city had become a mental projection. A way of escaping reality without completely denying it. These images are not only about showing Cuba as it is. They are about imagining how people emotionally survive in a confined world — by recreating softness, poetry, and dreamlike beauty inside their own minds. My work around Cuba was notably featured by CNN Travel.
